Preparations
Our work
There’s more to it than just doing without chemicals.  The frequently asked question about the difference between organic and conventional farming can not just be answered by the reduced use of plant protection sprays. We abstain completely from the use of synthetic sprays which would be absorbed into the sap cycle of plants and their use is also explicitly prohibited. This does not apply to the employment of hydrogen sulphide and copper-based compounds: their effect is limited to a wetting – similar to the protective function of suntan lotion on our skin. It remains important however to reduce their application to a minimum and this has been made possible to a large extent by using alternatives such as horn dung preparations, quartz flour and baking soda.

Of much greater significance for us is the use of natural silicates which may be produced from horsetail, nettles, and plant oils or extracts derived from fennel or rape seed. Most important are also infusions and liquid fertiliser made from a great variety of herbs from camomile to yarrow and again nettles. The central idea is to create balance based on agriculture as an integral part of an ecological cycle.

Working and thinking bio-dynamically is a wonderful path of deep exploration, the active study of natural processes and improvement of sensitivity. It represents a continuous process of progress, leaving behind our present society’s strongly developed reliance on some kind of safety mentality and moving towards the active recognition of causes – getting incredibly closer to nature, the elements and ultimately life.
