We aim to process the products of our farming ourselves as far as possible. One of the results of this initiative is our Urkorn-Bier (heritage grain beer). Origin and the way of production are particularly important to us as they give brightness and energy to the products. The beer has a distinctive character of its own and bears a clear declaration of the origin of its raw materials, the German Reinheitsgebote (German commandment of purity for beer) alone does not meet our standards.

We have found a congenial partner for our brewing operation and initiated the establishment of the world’s first 100% biodynamic brewery. Master of brewing Reinhold Barta runs the Gusswerk brewery on the outskirts of Salzburg. A most important consideration in the choice of location for the brewery was the quality of the water, and the spring that supplies fresh and crystal-clear water without any need for purification is only 300 metres away.

The power of original grain in the glass.  Traditional, nearly extinct varieties of grain mean a lot to us. Einkorn, emmer, spelt are among the oldest grains known and are considered the predecessors of our current grain types. Einkorn is 9000 years old. Even “Ötzi the Ice Man” was found in possession of einkorn which counts as one the most highly valued varieties of grain in the history of mankind. Its mineral content is much higher than that of wheat - it contains plenty of iron, zinc, copper and manganese, improves eyesight and is credited with cancer-prohibitive properties. The minerals are retained beyond the brewing process making the new organic beer a true brain food.
